Nicki Curtis grew up in Omaha, Texas. She started training in dance twirling when she was two years old. By age ten she was the captain of her line and won several competitions, including receiving a first division at the South West Twirling Association. At age thirteen she decided to join a competitive cheer team. After competing with All Star Athletics and winning multiple championships. She assisted with the training of the younger teams, focusing on stunts and jumps. She was recognized for best attitude and all around talent at the national competition. After suffering an injury she decided to begin teaching twirling classes. In high school she was the head majorette and the first from her school to compete at the state UIL solo level in twirling.

She began dancing at age sixteen with the Kim Ivy Dance Company and fell in love with dance. While training in Ballet, Tap and Jazz, she was soon the assistant choreographer. Her senior year she was offered multiple scholarships to the college of her choice. After high school she went on to Stephen F. Austin State University where she was a Twirl-O-Jack and a member of the Repertory Dance Company. She studied Ballet, Jazz, Modern and Ballroom. She was given the opportunity to study under choreographers from around the world including Nai-Ni Chen and David Parsons. In 2009 she graduated with honors earning a Bachelors of Science in Dance. She now spends her time helping homeless animals, while pursuing her passion in dance and choreography.
