Anything moveable with ballroom shoes or leather sole shoes. Please avoid flip-flops, sandals, or tennis shoes.


BALLROOM CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
  • YOUTH BALLROOM
    Designed for children ages 7-15; it will emphasize Latin Technique and Fundamentals, Smooth Ballroom Technique, Creative Movement through music, and Open Choreography. This is a wonderful introduction to the world of ballroom dance geared more for the young dancer.
  • RUMBA/INTERNATIONAL RUMBA
    Rumba can be described as a very passionate romantic dance. American Rumba, with its slower rhythm, is easily the most versatile dance of all Latin dances. International Rumba is the most passionate dance in the International Latin style. Suited more for a competition this dance is still important in learning techniques important for balance in style and performance. Perfect for beginners or competitors Rumba is definitely recommended for students looking for a good starting point.
  • CHA CHA
    Cha Cha is a fun, energetic, and rhythmical Latin dance. Another dance with Cuban roots Cha Cha is characterized through its flirtatious hip movements and unique rhythm. With its faster pace and exciting movements Cha Cha is easily one of the more popular Latin Dances both socially and competitively, as well as a versatile and adaptable dance that is easy to learn.
  • EAST COAST SWING
    East Coast Swing is the perfect dance for anyone who wants to have fun on the dance floor. A relative of the lindy hop, jive, & jitterbug, the East Coast swing has an upbeat rhythm that is extremely contagious to all toes. An American original, East Coast Swing is an extremely versatile dance perfect for beginners and competitors alike.
  • JIVE
    For those students who want a little more than their typical swing the Jive is another international competitive dance. A near match with the East Coast swing this dance separates itself with more intense kicks and flicking action. More of a competitive dance this dance has an upbeat tempo and faster rhythm. A good workout and a great challenge the Jive is a great dance for performance and competition. "No hand Jiving here this one is all legs, quick, quick, flick and kick!!!"
  • SALSA
    "...This one is hot!!!"(Oops I meant Caliente!!!) Afro Cuban in origin, and a very popular club dance, Salsa is a great dance to start with for anyone interested in Latin dancing. With its basic rhythm and fun movements Salsa is one of the easier if not the easiest Latin Dance. An excellent beginner dance and specialty competition dance in this class we continue to "Shake what our Mamas gave us!!!"
  • WEST COAST SWING
    Bluesy, sultry, and silky smooth, West Coast swing is a dance with plenty of room for improvisation and self-expression. With its silky movements and laid back style the West Coast swing compliments musical genres from Country Western, R&B, Blues, and Contemporary. Highly recommended for all, this specialty dance is fun socially and competitively.
  • FOXTROT
    Picture elegance, class, style, and sophistication as you sweep across a beautiful ballroom floor in the Heart of NYC. The most popular American smooth dance, the Foxtrot is your definitive Ballroom dance. Fun, and deceptively easy to learn, this dance is a must socially and competitively.   • WALTZ
    With its beautifully graceful movements and fluid style the Waltz is the perfect example of grace and poise. Characterized by its unique rhythm and pronounced "rise and fall action", the Waltz and its seemingly effortless flowing patterns, creates beautiful picture like quality movements. Great for weddings, social dancing, and competitions this dance allows for freedom in expression and improvisation.   • VIENNESE WALTZ
    Visually characterized by its circular, spirited, and lively movements Viennese Waltz is Grandfather of all modern ballroom dances. Quite different from its modern style the Waltz, Viennese Waltz is danced at a faster tempo. A nice challenge for the ballroom dancer looking for more. Example given: Masquerade Balls in Vienna circling the floor in lavish costumes and beautiful dresses.
  • TANGO
    T-A-N-G-OOOOO!! Characterized by its truly dynamic and dramatic movements Tango lends its intense style to its Argentine roots. With its intense, stalking, and staccato movement, this dance captures everyone's attention and is one of the most popular smooth dances for beginner, competitors, and anyone for looking that passionate flair. Example of a masculine Gentlemen's dance.

INTERNATIONAL LATIN/AMERICAN RHYTHM
  • BOLERO
    Get ready to sizzle on the dance floor! The Bolero is the "Dance of Love" and is the most beautifully expressive Latin dance. Bolero is traditionally associated with romantic Spanish love songs, and truly captures sensuality and romance through its slow rhythmic movements. Perfect for all you romantic prom swayers!!
  • MAMBO
    The first known Mambo was presented in 1943 in Havana. And, many Latin American Orchestras of the time picked up and developed their own spin and style. It has maintained its status as an energetic and upbeat style of dancing. Through movies such as "Dirty Dancing" and television programs, it has become wildly popular today.   • SAMBA
    The Samba originated from the Carnival and street festival celebrations of Brazil. This is a free spirited and highly rhythmical dance. With its slight bouncing action, this dance truly compliments the music with fabulous undulating rhythms.
  • HUSTLE
    Made popular in the 1970's by the Disco era, the Hustle was the dance of its time. With it's fabulously quick and fun turning linear movements Hustle still maintains great popularity today. The music has a nice pulsing and constant beat that is easy to recognize by those wanting to cause a "Disco Inferno".

COUNTRY & WESTERN
  • COUNTRY & WESTERN WALTZ
    This Waltz differs from the other ballroom waltzes because it travels continuously around the floor. Because of the mesmerizing timing of any waltz, this dance is quite elegant and smooth on the dance floor. A beautiful and graceful dance for any Urban Cowboy.
  • NIGHT CLUB TWO-STEP
    No you don't have to be in a nightclub for this fun and quite popular partner dance. Nightclub two-step is a truly fun style that has a slightly more relaxed hold between partners. Night Club Two-Step is always a romantic crowd favorite. Think, "Home" by Michael Buble.
  • COUNTRY & WESTERN SHUFFLE
    Get your boots on and lets boogie!!! Also known as the Progressive Two-Step, this sure fire and fun moving dance makes you want to smile. With its fabulous movements and spins, you'll be whirling around the sawdust floor in no time. Yee Haw!!
  • TWO-STEP
    Bluebonnets, Big Tex, The Alamo, and the TWO-STEP are all things synonymous with the Lone Star State. A standard for any Texan or lover of country music this wildly popular and most recognized C&W dance is a must for those ready to go to any Hoe Down.
  • THREE-STEP
    Recognized by a "triple-step" walk or "1&2, 3" this is also a must know for the ultimate country and western lover. Most popular and traditional country music can be danced to this Triple the fun, steppin' dance. Y'all come back now Ya hear!
